Acrylic Flow Meters

Key Instruments’ versatile, economic acrylic flow meters are ideal for a variety of air, water, and gas flow instrumentation applications. As a leading flowmeter manufacturer, we feature standard series of acrylic flowmeters as well as custom acrylic bodies of superior quality. We manufacture our custom acrylic bodies on site to your exact specifications. If our standard flow meters do not match your system or product requirements, Key Instruments will custom engineer specialty products through sophisticated precision machining.

Advantages of Acrylic Flow meters

The common term, “acrylic” derives from the thermoplastic, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). Acrylic was first introduced to the market in 1933 and, since then, has evolved in use and benefit. In many industries acrylic flowmeters are used as an alternative to glass and are often considered the more economical and durable choice for meeting accurate flow measurement needs. Acrylic is impact resistant and does not shatter in the manner that glass does. To restore marred or cut edges to full transparency, acrylic flow meters can be easily polished.

Features of Key Instruments’ Acrylic Flow meters:

  • English or metric scales are clearly visible
  • Threaded brass inserts are provided for efficientinstallation
  • Disassembly and assembly is hassle-free
  • Durable one-piece clear acrylic body
  • Steady, easy-to-read float

Based on cost, maximum operating temperature, maximum operating pressure, chemical compatibility, and durability, acrylic flow meters rank as the “middle of the road” material when compared to polycarbonate and glass. The maximum operating temperature is 150°F (65°C), the maximum operating pressure is 100 psig (6.9 bar). Key Instruments’ acrylic flow meters are resistant to a variety of chemicals from acetic acid, to battery acid, to calcium chloride, to nitric acid, to detergent solution, and much more. See our Chemical Compatibility Charts for more details.

Key Instruments precision machining provides the styles you want with the options you need. Viton® seals come standard with stainless steel fittings and Buna N rubber seals come standard with brass fittings. Other configurations are possible upon request. Depending on the acrylic flow meter series we offer different types of floats. As a custom flow meter manufacturer, we provide our customers with limitless choices for industry-specific, innovative flow meter solutions.

For reliable high-quality, high-performance flow measurement and calibration readings, trust the experts in precision machining at Key Instruments. We will help you chose the best material for your system or product requirements.

At Key Instruments, our success is built on recognizing that product manufacturers need more from their flow instrumentation suppliers than simply providing a standard product catalog.  Manufacturers of medical equipment, industrial gas mixing and distribution systems, aquaculture control equipment, gas and liquid analyzers, water handling and treatment skids, and many others continue to partner with us due to our unique ability to drive costs out of the final product. When maintaining a world-class supply chain is critical, premier product manufacturers call Key.
