FDA Good Manufacturing Practices in Flow Meter Manufacturing
The FDA's Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) comprise a set of government regulations, codes, and guidelines for the manufacturing of drugs, medical devices, diagnostic products, foods, and active pharmaceutical ingredients. The GMP ensures safety in products by monitoring every aspect of a manufacturing process from the design of a product, to the physical production, testing, packaging, and storage of both components and finished goods. Even after the flow meter has been delivered, you can rely on our Good Manufacturing Practices: the Key Instruments commitment to GMP ensures a promptly and properly serviced product if ever necessary.
By administering and complying with FDA's Good Manufacturing Practices, Key Instruments maintains an active quality control documentation process. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) was founded in 1901 as a non-regulatory federal agency within the U.S. Commerce Department's Technology Administration. NIST's mission is to enhance productivity, facilitate trade, and improve the overall quality of life through measurement, standards, and technology.
To help meet measurement and standardization needs, NIST provides a wide range of services including calibration, measurement quality assurance programs, standard reference data, and more, to assist customers in establishing traceability. Traceability is key in producing the highest quality products. Key Instruments uses NIST traceable equipment to guarantee to customers the accuracy and durability of our flow instrumentation products. A strict calibration system ensures that all measuring and testing equipment is functional and accurate; having been calibrated to an NIST Standard. All instruments used in manufacturing are controlled by this system, which requires that calibrations are performed on a regular basis. In addition, this system provides recorded data for all calibrations done, which is audited regularly by our internal Quality Assurance Manager.
Recognizing flow meter accuracy is necessary to our customers's product quality, Key Instruments proactively approaches measurement and certification of flow instrumentation solutions. Awarded a US patent for the development of a NIST primary flow standard in 1981, Key Instruments has set the standard for flow measurement technique for all flowmeter manufacturers.
Today our Flow lab continuously conducts in-process inspections of the production of new parts and provides support to all aspect of operations. Our lab continually monitors our production to ensure the accuracy of our testing of our flow meters and custom pneumatic subsystems.
